Fees

Operating with fixed rates makes no sense since the price depends on a variety of parameters, including the following:

  • Quality and format of the source text
  • The client’s expectations as to quality
  • Purpose and recipient
  • Resources: time, budget, available reference material

With this in mind, I always ask to see the text before submitting a quote, preferably in Word.

It is also important to bear in mind that when purchasing a translation from a professional translator, clients are not primarily paying for a certain number of lines or words as is the case with machine translation or localisation. They are paying for knowledge and expertise in the same way as when they may instruct a solicitor or engage an accountant.

Please note that I am happy to negotiate preferential terms for loyal clients.
